My babysitting war..

It was the winter of my freshman year, and my aunt and cousins were over for christmas. I really didn't want to babysit because I just wanted to hang out with them, but I had already told this family that I would a long time ago. So I sucked it up and went over there only to find out that both the kids were sick. I knew it was going to be a long night, but I didn't see what was to come. The kids parents left, and I was just supposed to let the kids watch a movie, and they would fall asleep, at least that's what the mom said. Everything was going pretty well until the little boy who was probably 5 at the time had to go to the bathroom. He was in there for a long time, so I went to check on him to make sure everything was okay, but it wasn't because he had thrown up. While I was in the bathroom, the little girl got mad because I wasn't helping her write her name or something so she started screaming. I walked out of the bathroom and saw her crying in the corner, and I walked over there to see that she had thrown up all over the carpet. I knew she felt bad but still it really was not fun to clean up. So I'm sitting there clean it up, and then I hear the little girl yell my name and tell me that her brother pooped on my jacket. I just sat there for a while because I didn't even know how to deal with it. After like ten minutes, I went over there and the little boy is sitting on my jacket with no pants on with poop all over the place. It was horrible and the kids were getting even more wild because they knew there was nothing I could do to stop them. By this point, it was probably around nine and the kids were supposed to be in bed an hour ago, so I called my aunt because she is a daycare director to ask her what to do. She told me that I should call the parents and tell them they need to come home and deal with there kids. I didn't want to be rude by calling them, but there was really nothing else I could do to stop them, so I called. They said they would be home in a little bit and to give the kids a bath hopefully settling them done. I gave them a bath, finally got everything cleaned up, and had managed to get these devil children to sleep by the time their parents got home three hours after they said they would! I was so mad because seriously what parent does that. They knew the kids were sick and obviously had to have known that they had some pretty wild kids. It was honestly the longest night of my life and no amount of money could make up for what happened!

Well that sounds pretty horrible. I was babysitting once and the parents didn't tell me that these kids where sugar senitive. Well I gave them a bit of chocolate and next thing I knew I woke up on the floor 5 mins later. One of the kids jumped on the light fixture brought it down on top of me.

wow, that sounds horrible. I've babysat before, but the worst I've had to deal with are bad diapers. I also can't believe that the parents did that to you! They should have known that the babysitter wouldn't call unless something was seriously wrong and rushed home to help you

Yea...these are the reasons I don't babysit anymore. If someone asks me I just say, "Sorry, I already have plans." Its always the worst to when the kids are sick. I wouldnt have been able to do that without getting sick myself.

Hannah-

That sounds terrible. I just don't understand why parents who have sick children would leave them home with a babysitter. I also can't believe that the little boy pooped on your jacket!! That is soo gross! I had to babysit for this family once who also had two sick kids and I thought that was awful because about every ten minutes one or the other would be throwing up. Although I was lucky because neither one of them pooped on my jacket! Still I was angry at the parents for letting me come over and not even warning me about their sick kids. I hate being sick so it made me mad that they let me be around their sick children so they could go out on their date. Also when I was younger and sick, I always wanted my parents there, not my babysitter. I don't know about parents sometimes!!

Hannah,
That sounds horrible! It seems really rude that the parents would have you watch their kids when they're sick without warning you. But even when they said they were coming home they didn't come for another three hours! That night would suck, and it definitely wouldn't be worth the money!

Ohhhh Dear!
That sounds terrible! haha.
I can definately relate to your story, though I dont think I've ever experienced anything that bad. My worst was probabaly when I was at camp and one of my girls got really sick and threw up in the tent. I had to take her to the nurse and then clean everything up. NASTY.
plus it was like 2 in the morning and completely dark.
ANYWAY I'm sorry you had such a bad experience!
have a good day!

hah oh no! First of all, cleaning up puke is disgusting and I would have a really hard time doing that with out puking myself. Second of all, I have no idea how you were able to handle yourself and stay undercontrol when A KID POOPED ON YOUR JACKET!! I would flip out and lock both of those kids in a closet or something after THEY cleaned up that mess. I feel so bad for you lol but thats really funny, im sure you look back on it and laugh!
